Infection Control
We embed an antimicrobial into the fabric to protect against hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). The antimicrobial is a durable and non-leaching technology with a proven track record. Additionally, we apply a finish that prevents stains from becoming embedded into the fabric. These finishes only work with 100% polyester fabric and are applied at over 400 degrees of heat. At that temperature, the fibers in the polyester open and embed the antimicrobial and stain guard permanently into the fabric.
The colors, patterns, and photos on the curtains are printed on paper using dye sublimation inks and then transferred to the fabric at over 400 degrees of dry heat in two separate passes. The antimicrobial and stain-guard are embedded deeper with these two passes.

CASE STUDY
Over eight months, we tested curtains for MRSA and C diff by swabbing the high-touch areas before laundering and having them analyzed by an independent lab. The curtains tested negative in all tests. This PDF is a summary report of the results.

Curtain Attachment Options
All Sereneview curtains have a standard mesh sewn to the fabric permanently. Additional options include snaps and zippers for easy removal for laundering.
We also offer Velcro breakaway curtains for special applications.
How to Care For and Maintain Sereneview® Curtains
With the proper care and maintenance, Sereneview’s Avalon fabric can last over ten years, and our mesh for 2-5 years. Excessive heat will impact the mesh much faster than the fabric. A dedicated curtain/drapery cleaning service will maintain the appearance of the curtains and extend their useful life. Below is a list of companies that we are familiar with. If you are interested in being added to the list, contact us.
Wet Cleaning: Use mild soap or detergent in water NOT TO EXCEED 160°F (synthetic setting) with a high water level and mild agitation. Extract Gently. Repeated laundering with bleach will remove all color from the fabric over time. Clorox Healthcare Peroxide Cleaner Disinfectants are 99.9% as effective as bleach and can be used in the laundry. Applying bleach directly to the fabric will adversely affect the color. Use Clorox Broad Spectrum Quaternary Disinfectant Cleaner, which can be used as a spray on hard and soft surfaces. Another excellent disinfectant and bleach alternative is FabricAide.
Spot Cleaning: This fabric has been processed with Synpel A, bodily fluid, and stain repellent. Stains can be spot-cleaned with a damp sponge or cloth and a typical NON-BLEACH cleaner/germicidal, including oxidizing agents, alcohol disinfectants, quaternary disinfectants, and industrial laundry detergents. The repellent properties have a useful life of twenty-five (25) commercial laundering.
Dry Cleaning: DO NOT DRY CLEAN.
Drying: Air, cabinet, or tumble dry at a low temperature. Do not exceed 20 minutes on synthetic cycle at a maximum of 104°F. Hang or fold immediately after drying.
Finishing: If necessary, press as follows: Hand Iron – Iron at a low heat setting (275°F) using a damp cloth or Steam Iron with a dry press cloth. Grid Head Press – Press for short intervals with minimum steam. Do not lock your head. Flat Bed Press – Press the dampened drapery using a cloth covering.
Antibacterial Properties: Avalon fabric has an antimicrobial, AEM 5700, applied in finishing.
