FAQs

Q: Do the curtains meet flame resistance regulations?
A: Yes. Our curtains have been tested and certified to meet all hospital requirements of NFPA 701 and California Title 19 after 7 commercial launderings as per GSA requirements, 2 more than is standard. For copies of the reports, click here to download a PDF.

Q: Do the curtains meet California Prop 65 regulations?
A: Yes, in that they do NOT contain any chemicals listed in Prop 65.

Q: Do the curtains have antibacterial properties?
A: Yes. We use the AEM 5700 technology that has a 50-wash durability rating.

Q: Can you have scenes on both sides of a curtain?
A: No. Because of the way the scenes are applied to the fabric, there is no way we can register both sides correctly.

Q: Can you have more than one scene on the same side?
A: No. This will only confuse patients and is the opposite of what they are designed to do. Our curtains were developed on the principles of visual therapy in that we are assisting patients to go into a daydream-like state of mind so that they will forget where they are and why they are there.

Q: Can I use a photo from my area?
A: Yes. Contact Loren at 888-515-6578 to find out details.

Q: What is the difference between Landscape and Window Frame curtains?
A: Our Landscape curtain scene is an edge-to-edge photo surrounding the patient in nature. Our Window Frame curtain scene is smaller and has a solid color or graphic treatment framing it to simulate a window.

Q: What is the lead time on your curtains?
A: The lead time is 4-8 weeks, depending on your order. All orders for Custom Curtains are printed after being placed.

Q: What if I only want 1-10 curtains?
A: We can do that, but we have a minimum print run charge of $250 for any order less than 1-24 yards & $125 for 25-50 yards to cover the extra fabric it takes to print a panel.

Q: What if I only want a curtain to evaluate if this works in our facility?
A: We offer a 30-Day Trial curtain that can be hung and evaluated by staff and patients. At the end of the 30 days, just put the curtain back in the box it came in and return it.

Q: What are the curtain heights?
A: Because the scene height is limited to 68″ tall, we use various widths of nylon mesh to accommodate different ceiling heights. Standard minimum mesh is 18″ for fire sprinkler requirements. Our standard heights are 88″, 90″, 96″, and 104″. We can accommodate other heights with a variety of methods.

Q: Do you have measuring tips?
A: Yes. Basic rule-of-thumb guidelines are 6-10″ from the floor to the bottom of the curtain and +10-15% to the length/width for fullness. There are several ways to measure: 1) find the Care label, 2) count ceiling tiles, or 3) use a tape measure. The easiest way is to locate the Care label to see if the measurements are still visible. The label is usually where the mesh and fabric are sewn together. Count the ceiling tiles if the label is missing or the measurements are faded. You don’t have to be exact on the length of the track; close to 6-10″ will work. Use a tape measure on the floor if the ceiling has no tiles.

Q: What are the washing instructions?
A: See here

Q: Will the scene and color wash off or fade?
A: No, as long as bleach is NOT used. Repeated laundering with bleach will remove all color from the fabric over time. Clorox Healthcare Peroxide Cleaner Disinfectants is 99.9% as effective as bleach and can be used in the laundry without adverse effects. Applying bleach directly to the fabric will adversely affect the color. Use Clorox Broad Spectrum Quaternary Disinfectant Cleaner, which can be used as a spray on hard and soft surfaces. You can read our warranty here.

Q: Will the fabric pil or get little balls over time?
A: No. Our fabric is a 100% polyester triple-weave fabric that resists pilling.
